Final Update before the storm

Hello Everyone, I'm back again. I found a few more weather resources and I noticed some snow total maps changed a little with the higher amounts coming a little further south. If it isn't snowing at your house already, it will be soon. I hope everyone is ready. I myself am very excited about the chance for over 6 inches at my house.

This is the timeline put out by the National weather service showing the heaviest snowfall to take place over night.

Here is the information I found from two new sources online. the first is Accuweather and the second is weatherwx.com

Here are the up to date snow total maps

the next map from the National weather Service has an area of uncertainty that is circled with a dotted white line. This area could get more than is noted on the map. Also this area could have power outages due to heavy wet snow

I will be up nice and early tomorrow morning to see how much snow has accumulated. I have to be on my computer at 6am to make Disney dining reservations so I will probably update this blog when I am done with Disney.

Enjoy the snow

Winter Storm Ember

The snow storm headed our way tomorrow has a name, Ember. Ember is expected to arrive in the late evening and continue heavy during the over night hours and then linger all day Sunday. Southeastern Massachusetts will be getting the heavy wet snow which can cause down power lines so be sure to be prepared for possible power outages.

Most snow total maps have remained the same as yesterday but some have the amounts lowered. Here they are.

If the situation changes I will post again otherwise this is my last snowfall totals map post.

Snow Total Map Update

Good Morning to all my fellow snow lovers out there. Are you ready for this storm?

The storm will be arriving Saturday night with light snow so if you have plans be sure to get home earlier rather than later. Over night and the first half of the day Sunday will be the worst times for travel. For everyone traveling to Foxboro for the last Patriots game of the season, drive carefully (take it slow)

Here are all the snow total maps I could find this morning. Some have stayed the same as yesterday, but most have changed a little.

I will post again when I notice changes in the snow total maps.
Stay safe.

Snow Total Maps

The first snow total maps are in.

First I want to make sure you are aware that there is a chance for power outages with this storm. Some areas will have heavy wet snow that will take down power lines and then there will be winds on Sunday so the combination of both these conditions could be a problem.

Light snow may start early Saturday evening but the storm isn't expected to arrive until after 10pm and then last all night Sunday and continue heavy Sunday morning then turning to lighter snow in the afternoon. I hope the roads are clear for all the Patriots fans driving to the home game Sunday. Last game of a depressing season.

Here are your first snow total maps...

I am sure these will change tomorrow so I will probably post again in the next 24 hours. If I don't post it is because the snow totals didn't change.

Sunday Snow

Good Morning to all the snow lovers out there! As the Sunday storm gets closer, the confidence in a plowable snow continues to grow. The issue with this storm is that the ocean water is a warm 45 degrees and there will be an ocean wind so there will be rain and mixing closer to the coast but all snow inland. The next 3 maps give you an idea of where there will be some mixing.

Weather.com has increased their snow total amounts from yesterday's post. They are now predicting
6-10 inches as opposed to yesterday's 4-8 inches.

This snowfall will be the first significant snow in over a year so some people may not be prepared for it. The winds shouldn't cause many power outages, but you never know when we get snow - Be Prepared!

Not many meteorologists want to give snow totals yet. Most will wait until Friday but I did find a few.

If more snow total maps appear tonight with the 6pm news, I will post them here around 7pm so check back then.

Snow update

The snow is still over 3 days away so no one has put out a predicted snowfall map but I would expect them to start coming out tomorrow.

Today I have found some computer models that are still stating over a six inch snowfall.

This map shows the percentage of getting more than 6 inches of snow. The orange represents 90% chance, which is most of the state.

This next map is one of the computer models showing expected snowfall Saturday night and all day Sunday.

And next is the latest update from weather.com as of 4:30 pm today stating that southeast Mass could get 4-8 inches total.

I'm sure the weather people will have more updates on the news at 6 and 11 tonight so I will be watching and then again tomorrow morning. Check back tomorrow for the latest update.

Latest on Saturday/Sunday snow

I know I said I wouldn't post an update today but I have a couple of minutes so this will be short.

Here are the latest twitter posts about the upcoming storm

Weather.com has posted some snow accumulation totals but I expect those will change as the storm gets closer.

I also found one computer model showing 8 or 9 inches of snow in my area

Once snow total maps start appearing you know you can find them here, but I wouldn't expect to find any of those until Friday. (maybe Thursday night) Check back daily for the latest. Since this is the first chance for a snowfall this winter I am very excited!

Weekend Storm?

Here is my daily update on the potential for some snow on Sunday January 7th.

The snow is still in the forecast but the amounts have decreased. Let's just wait and see as the day gets closer. We have to watch the track of this storm to see where the rain/snow line sets up.

There is a small chance for a dusting of snow Thursday. Right now that doesn't seem like anything at all, but who knows what will happen as the weather is always changing.

I will continue to keep you posted, but not tomorrow. I have a full day Tuesday away from computer so my next update will be late Wednesday afternoon.

Check back then. and think snow!

SNOW? MAYBE

This came out of no where for me. All I have been reading about is our unseasonably warm temperatures and now I see there is a chance for plowable snow next week. WOW! I have been waiting for this but I am trying not to get too excited because a lot can change in a week

Yes, this is a week away. There is talk of us getting some snow on Sunday January 7. By us, I mean southeastern Mass. Here is what I have been able to find so far.

I follow several weather people on twitter and these are some of the tweets from the past 24 hours

After reading these I decided to check out some weather apps. Well they all confirmed a snow storm that needs to be watched for next Sunday January 7, 2024 but they differ on the amounts of snow.
The lowest was weather.com and the highest was tomorrow.io

If you are looking for a snow day to get the day off of school or work then you want the tomorrow.io prediction to come true.

I will continue to follow this storm and provide an update each afternoon.

Unseasonably Warm

Hello everyone, Bad news for all the snow lovers reading this post...The only precipitation in the foreseeable forecast is rain.

The temperatures are just too warm to support snow.

I will continue to monitor the weather and will post again when I have a snow forecast for you. Fingers crossed that it doesn't take too long.
