Yes there is a storm coming tonight into tomorrow morning, but this is not a big snow maker. We should only expect a coupe of inches of the white stuff. The problem may be ice instead of snow and the timing couldn't be worse. The snow is supposed to start tonight shortly after midnight and continue to snow right through the morning commute. At some point the snow will mix with ice and be a mess. Later in the morning we will get rain and then at the end of the storm (evening) the light rain may turn back to snow for a brief period.

As usual, I will blog again if things change.

Thursday, December 12, 2019

Our next chance of snow is Tuesday December 17th. The snow will start Monday night and continue into Tuesday morning and will change to rain by late morning.

This is still a long way away so stay tuned for updates.

Wednesday Snow

Don't get too excited about a snow day. We will only be getting a couple of inches of snow. Please drive carefully Wednesday morning because there will probably be quite a bit of ice under the little bit of snow that falls. If anything changes I will let you know

It will be snowing when we drive to school Wednesday morning. Be careful

Just a little more white stuff

While it is raining right now and washing away all the snow, we could be getting more of the white stuff very early Wednesday morning.
The rain that is around now will linger into Tuesday night. Late Tuesday night the temperatures will begin to drop causing the rain to change over to snow. Right now this seems to be just a couple of inches but there is chance that amount could increase. I will keep you posted

I will continue to follow this storm and keep you updated. Right now, nothing to get too excited about.

Friday Snow

You may have heard there is a little snow in the forecast for tomorrow - Friday December 6th. This snow is minimal for our area. Maybe an inch or two but no more. The snow or maybe rain to start will be here in the late afternoon. I really don't see this storm amounting to much.

The latest

Turns out this storm is pretty tricky. From everything I am reading the heaviest snow will probably fall between 4am and 10am tomorrow. If the storm sets up just off shore then we may get 3-4 inches but if the storm comes on shore a little we will get 6 inches. Most meteorologists are thinking the storm will bring the 6 inches. If we get 6 inches and the snow is heaviest during the morning commute then we could have our first snow day. Now we wait and see if the storm does what it is supposed to do.

Here are all the current snow total maps.

Let's Hope the weather does what it is supposed to do.
I saw this tweet from meteorologist from WBZ.

and here is another tweet I liked.

Everything I have read tonight states that driving will be bad during the morning commute so I am hoping none of us have to drive in the morning.
Stay safe everyone and enjoy the snow

Ezekiel Part 2

Good Morning everyone! Are you ready for some more significant snow? The rain should turn to snow early tonight (maybe 8:00) and snow through the night and still snowing during the morning commute.  A winter storm warning is in place for our region.

Here are the latest snow total maps for what will fall tonight. I will update again early this evening.

Monday - Tuesday snow

Storm Ezekiel is a tricky one. This storm is now showing evidence that we will get 3-4 inches tonight but then turn to rain and wash away the snow in the early morning hours. So I do believe we will have school Monday, but then the tricky part comes along. The rain we get Monday will turn back to snow Monday night and may pile up over night into Tuesday morning. Looks like Eastern Mass will get more snow than first expected. Below are quotes I have found from several different sources.
I will continue to follow this storm and blog about it.

There are many models that show potential weather. The EURO is one of those models and the EURO is showing a lot of snow for Monday night into Tuesday morning. 10 inches

This is only one model so we can't be sure this will happen but I will definitely pay attention and keep you updated.

Ezekiel

The storm is headed our way but there is still some question about the rain snow line. As of right now looks like we will get snow tomorrow and tomorrow night. In the very early hours of Monday morning the snow will turn to rain and may wash away all the snow we got Sunday. Then Monday night the rain will turn back to snow and may accumulate another 2-3 inches. If the rain line lowers then we would get more snow. The snow is expected to start early Sunday afternoon

These are all the snow total maps that I could find this afternoon. If things change tomorrow I will post new maps

storm Ezekiel

There is a storm heading our way Sunday afternoon lasting into Tuesday morning. The amount of snow vs. rain keeps changing so I am not very confident in the amounts I blog about today. I will post here again tomorrow but for today here are a few of the snow total maps that I could find.

I will watch and read all the weather reports tomorrow morning and then I will post all updates on storm Ezekiel on this blog some time tomorrow afternoon.
For now you should know that the snow will be arriving some time late afternoon Sunday so you shouldn't plan to be on the road. The big question is where will the rain/snow line set up?
That's all for now.

First Chance of Snow

There is a storm headed our way late this weekend and there is a chance that some of the precipitation could be snow. I will continue to follow the weather and post updates here. As of 10am today weather.com is predicting a few inches. What a great way to start off the month of December

Winter Preview

I know you are excited about winter arriving soon and I am sure my seniors are very excited about having some snow days. I will watch the weather faithfully and post here when the weather forecasts snowfall of 3 inches or more.
I will leave you with this quote from the Farmers Almanac

"With colder-than-normal temperatures in the Northeast and above-normal precipitation expected, our outlook forewarns of not only a good amount of snow, but also a wintry mix of rain, sleet—especially along the coast," the long range forecaster suggests.

Dorian

I am sure you have heard there is a hurricane headed towards Florida. Hurricane Dorian is expected to make a turn to the North so I will be blogging in a day or two to let you know if we will be getting any remnants of this hurricane. Stay tuned

Snow Day

I'm excited! I have my first snow day of the year tomorrow. Nothing has changed since my last post. The snow should begin by 10pm and will continue until 8:00 tomorrow morning. A few new maps have come out since my last post so here they are.

I hope all my students enjoy their snow day tomorrow!

I think we have a snow day

Good afternoon everyone, I do believe we will be having our first snow day of the year. Here are the latest maps. I will update again after I watch all the local news at 6pm

Winter Storm Scott

Storm #1 for the weekend is just about over and we didn't get as big of a storm as we expected but don't worry if you love snow more is coming. Winter storm Scott is expected to arrive Sunday night after dark and continue through Monday morning. Monday morning commute may be difficult.
so drive carefully

The storm has taken a slight turn further south so the rain/snow line will come not be coming to far north. Below are all the maps I can find this morning. I'm sorry I will not be able to update this later today because I am going away for the weekend to spend some time with my sisters. I will update when I get home early Sunday night.
