A little snow for us

This is the headline from the weather channel

"Winter Storm Carrie is forecast to bring snow to New England this weekend."

The further North you live the more snow you will get. My area is only expecting a dusting to an inch.

The snow should start late afternoon and continue through the night. If you have shopping to do, get out there now.

Here are a few snow maps that I found online

Change in track.

We may be catching a break with this storm. The hurricane center has moved the storm track a little to the west so the storm will be making a direct hit to Long Island and Connecticut.  But we will still be feeling some effects.

Be sure to spend time today to prepare.
  • Bring in anything that could cause damage if blown away.
  • Be sure to charge all your electronic devices.
  • fill your gas tank in case the gas stations lose power
  • have batteries for flashlights and candles ready to be used.
  • gas for the generator if you have one.

Henri is coming for a visit

Right now #Henri is a tropical storm but by the time it reaches southern New England it may be a category 1 Hurricane. To quote meteorologist Zack Green, "This is a batten down the hatches scenario"

The current track of this storm has it making landfall in southern Massachusetts, but remember the track can easily change so be sure to watch weather updates.  Now is the time to prepare.

Power outages are likely so make sure you have all electronic devices charged and maybe some flashlights on hand. Make sure your freezer has plenty of ice made to help keep the food frozen while the power is out. Be prepared for lots of rain, including some flooding.

Most importantly - Everyone stay SAFE!

Today we are getting lots of rain thanks to Hurricane Fred and Sunday we may be getting a visit from hurricane Henri. I will closely monitor this situation and post more about Henri either later today or tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Tropical Storm Elsa

Tropical Storm Elsa is heading our way. The track takes the storm over Narragansett, RI to Plymouth Ma.
Areas to the left of the storm get the heaviest rain while the areas to the right of the storm track get the most wind.

The rain should end by early afternoon on Friday so you may be able to do something outdoors before the day is over.

My daughter and I were going to go out for breakfast but I don't think that will happen as it should be raining heavily at that time.

March Snow

March usually brings us some snow so even though we had 60 degree temperatures last week, we are getting a couple inches of snow overnight.

Precip will start as rain later tonight and then change to snow in the early morning hours. Here are a few snow total maps that I found.

More February Snow

This is turning out to be a stormy February. The next snow even is coming Thursday night and Friday.

There is a winter storm watch for most of the state

The snow is expected to start around 9pm Thursday and continue throughout the day Friday. Depending on the track of the storm the snow may mix with ice and some rain but we have to wait until the storm is closer to know the exact track.

Here are some early snow total predictions.

I will update this blog some time late tomorrow afternoon.

Valentine's Day

Hello everyone, I am in such a good mood today as it is the Friday before February school vacation. Woohoo, 10 days off coming my way and when I return to school I only have 77 school days until I start my retirement.

We have a little winter weather coming our way this week. Sunday, Valentine's day, there is a small disturbance that will bring some wintry mix and an inch or two of snow. I will be watching a greater snow potential on Tuesday. More to come...

Update on Tuesday Snow

During the daylight hours of Tuesday we will see snow. The snow should not amount to as much as we saw this weekend.

The snow should start by 10am and I would expect the snow to be ending by 7pm

Here are the latest snow maps.

Tuesday snow

Looks like the snow arriving during the day Tuesday shouldn't be too much.

Here are the first snow total maps that are out.

I anything changes I will post again tonight.

Snowy week ahead

So how much snow did you get on Superbowl Sunday? I got 9 inches at my house. I was happy that the snow was light and fluffy = easier clean up and no sore backs. I just wish the snow came on a Tuesday or Wednesday so I could have a snow day. Monday is remote so no need for the school to clean out tonight when they have all day tomorrow.

Now I focus my attention to the next snow chances. There are two more chances this week. Tuesday I am expecting 2 or 3 inches and then I am watching a small storm that comes in Friday. Right now that storm looks to only bring another 3 or 4 inches.

I will get more details about Tuesday and post tomorrow.

Evening Update

Here is the latest information on Superbowl Sunday snow

A few stations made minor changes to their snow total maps so here they are

I will NOT be posting another update unless snow amounts change drastically.
Enjoy the snow everyone

Changes to the snow maps

The weather system bringing snow to our area on Sunday has been named winter storm Quade. The track of this storm has moved slightly north so the area of 6+ inches of snow has moved further northward.

The national weather service has put out maps for the timing of this storm

here are the latest snow maps from this morning

After this snow storm I will be watching two more this week. One storm is expected on Tuesday and the other storm coming Thursday night into Friday. Stay tuned.
