Not a blockbuster

Most meteorologists now agree on this storm. Seems like our area will be getting 3-6 inches of snow which will fall between midnight and noon time. The other weather story is the high wind. Our area will be having wind gusts over 50 mph for most of the day Wednesday. That means lots of blowing and drifting snow. Will we get a snow day? That is the big question. This storm may not be enough to cancel the day. I guess we will have to wait until the morning.

The wind gusts will be quite strong during the day as shown on the map below. The cape will be having hurricane force winds. Lets hope we don't have any power outages.

Wednesday snow

This storm is driving all the weather people crazy. no one can get a handle on the exact path of the storm so the amounts are all over the place. Channel 7 is predicting only an inch for our area.

Channel 4 and the weather channel are predicting 3 or 4 inches for our area

Then the amounts start to go up. Channel 5 has us in the 4-8 inch rage and then FOX has us getting up to a foot.

So According to all these weather forecast we can expect any where from an inch of snow to a foot.
I'll post again when the amounts come together a little better.

Snowy forecast

This forecast seems to change every 12 hours. Last night the weather reports had the storm coming closer which would mean we get a blockbuster storm but this morning things have changed a little. Now the storm has gone further out to sea. What's funny is that this storm hasn't even formed yet. Here are the maps showing where there could be heavy snow amounts

The weather channel thinks all of Massachusetts will get some snow but the heavy snow is confined to the dark blue area in eastern Mass.

These are the two different tracks that the storm could take. Low track #2 is the most likely. Now we just wait and see how many more time the forecast changes between now and Tuesday afternoon.

Keep checking back here for the latest. I promise to update this blog any time I hear of a change in the forecast.

Winter isn't going away yet

Did you hear the weather forecast for next week? Cold temps will return Monday and there is a chance of snow midweek. Is the winter ever going away?

Very cold Thursday

I hope you weren't getting used to the warm days we have had. Tonight we will be getting rain which will turn over to snow by the morning. The National weather service has issued a winter weather advisory because tomorrow morning travel could be slippery. The wet roads from tonight's rain will freeze and then be coated by a thin layer of snow.

When we wake up in the morning there will be snow in our are and some mixed precip on the outer cape, but the snow will not last long.

The snow will end by late morning and we will not have more than an inch, but the big weather story tomorrow will be the windchill temperatures.

By the middle of the day our wind chill will make it feel like the temperature is in the single digits. Dress warmly.

warmer temperatures will return for the weekend!

Rain Storm. very little snow

The track of the storm Wednesday into Thursday has not changed. The storm will bring us some rain Wednesday afternoon into the night and then that will change over to some light snow very early Thursday morning. We should get no more than 2 inches of snow with this one.

Temperature Roller Coaster

Are you ready to ride on the weather roller coaster this week? Nice and warm yesterday with temps in the mid 50s. So I expected the same today, but noooo. Today the temperatures are in the mid 30s. Tomorrow morning back to winter, we can expect a few snow showers that might accumulate up to an inch and then Tuesday the temperature rises to 50 again, but that 50 doesn't stay around too long.
There is a storm headed our way for Wednesday night into Thursday with a lot of moisture. So the question is "Will we get rain or snow or both?" The track of the storm seems to be one that brings in the warmer temps so we will get some rain and a little snow at the end of the storm.

This could all change if the storm takes a different track so I will be sure to update you with any changes.

No Snow

so much for this storm. We probably won't even see an inch. Oh well. Now we just have to get the temperatures to rise and we can say hello to spring.
Channel 4 and 7 are pretty close on the total amounts.

Channel 7 is a little different.

Storm Fizzles

Everything I have read today points to a much weaker storm. Seems the storm is going to track a little further south so we won't get the heavy snow. Sunday we will get some light snow mixing with rain and some ice.

Then over night this mess all turns to snow and we get a few inches over night into the first half of Monday. Most meteorologists all agree that we will have up to 6 inches, but not more. Now we just wait and see if the storm moves north and then everything changes.
Here are a few snow total maps.

If anything changes with this storm and the snow amounts change, I will let you know.
if the storm doesn't change I feel that we will have school Monday.

No snow day
