Cape Cod Bracing for a storm

Another Sunday, another round of snow, but only for part of our state. As of today, this storm track appears to be keeping it off shore so only the southern areas will get plowable snow. The snow is expected to start in the very early morning hours of Sunday February 1st and continue all day. This storm is more powerful than the last one with strong winds and a wtter heavier snow so that could mean power outages.

I can't find many meteorologists ready to give snow total amounts but I did find these two maps.

I will continue to follow this storm and post another update some time tomorrow.

Do we start February with more Snow?

Hopefully everyone is shoveled out from this snow storm. Are ready for more snow? Looks like there is a chance of more snow Sunday February 1st.

I checked the weather channel this morning and there were all amounts of 3 to 5 inches and now they are all 1 to 3 inches.

Since this is a week away I am sure information will continue to change every day. Hopefully I will have more information to post laster this week. Maybe late Wednesday or Thursday.

Final Storm update

Here is the last update for tomorrows snow storm. Most of the storn news is the same with the exception of some changes south near the coast. There will be heavier snow there so that means lower amounts.

Where there is heavier snow comes the risk of power outages as the heavy snow can take down wires. There will be some wind to deal with as well.  The wind will be every where so I strongly suggest that you charge all electronics. Hopefully we don't lose power so we can all watch the Patriots win!

The snow should start late morning but won't stick right away. Around noon time the snow will start to stick and continue to get worse as the afternoon goes on. There may even be some thundersnow.

Here are all the updated snowfall total maps.

Enjoy your snow day on Monday! If you have to go out in this storm please be careful, Take it slow on the road.

Latest snow total maps

Every time a big snow event is talked about I try not to get to excited because so many times at the last minute it goes out to sea. I am trying to stay calm with this storm but the snow total maps are staying the same with a foot or more, so I have to admit that excitement for me is here!

Here are the latest snow total maps that I found this morning.

and this next map is for all of you that live North of Massachusetts but still check this weather blog.

First Snow Total maps

Are you ready for some snow? a lot of snow? The temperatures will be so low this weekend we will be getting the "fluff factor" with this storm which means higher amounts. Please be careful if you go outside this weekend as wind chills will be clode to -15

The snow will be starting late morning on Sunday and will continue all day Monday so there will be lots of school closings. #SNOWDAY

Here are the first snow total maps

I will check for more snow total maps overnight and post again tomorrow late morning

Winter Storm Fern

There is a lot of excitement centered around the winter storm arriving here in Massachusetts Sunday. This storm has been given the name Fern and she is now expected to arrive Sunday late morning.

This storm is still 4 days away so there isn't much certainty, but the chance of a foot of snow is increasing. Most forecaster say that we will have at least 6 inches but they say the ptotential is there for a foot or more.

I have read so many posts about this storm and watched more than 10 video forecasts. I took a few pics of graphics from all the different places and here they are....

There are two main computer models that are followed. The US model and the Euro model.

The Euro model shows the 12-18 inch range entering my state while the US model has amounts a little lower in Massachusetts.

Below is a map showing that we should have 3-6 inches by 5 pm Sunday and it will continue to snow all night and part of MOnday morning.

There isn't complete confidence in this scenerio yet. Maybe by this time tommorrow we will know more about snow totals.

The next graphic is NOT what is going to happen it is just a worst case scenerio if the storm is a direct hit on this area.

another update will be posted tomorrow afternoon.

Ready for a foot of snow?

Here comes some more Sunday snow. This time we have the chance to get a lot more than last Sunday. The potential is there for a foot or more but there is one thing that could change the forecast. There is a high pressure coming down from Canada. If this high pressure is strong enough it may push the low pressure (our storm) south of us so the snow stays out at sea. I will keep you posted. Here is the first amounts posted on weather.com

I will post again tonight with any snow totals I can find.

Snowy Patriots Playoff Game

Was anyone else surprised when they woke up this morning and it was already snowing? Everything I heard and read about this snow stated that it would start late morning to early afteroon. Everything I have read this morning says this snow will stay light until late afternoon. Time will tell.

I did find some updated maps with snow totals, so here they are.

looks like the meteorologists are thinking of amounts that are a touch bit higher than they thought yesterday.  Is this it? or will they amounts go even higher? I'll keep you posted if anything changes. Enjoy the Patriots game thi afternoon and if you are driving, please be careful.

Sunday plowable snow

I have been searching the internet to find some updated snow maps and everyone seems to agree that we are getting more than originally thought with the exception of channel 7 as they are still saying 1-3 inches in my area. The snow is expected to start in the early afternoon as light snow but should be steady by the time of the Patriots game. If you are going to the game or going out to watch the game, please be careful driving home.

Here are the latest maps that I found...

Now I am taking a break from searching about this storm. Instead I am going to watch the Celtics game. If things change I will update this blog tomorrow morning.

GO PATS!
