Snow tonight - small accumations

The snow forecast for tonight into tomorrow morning hasn't changed since my last post. Small accumlations for areas south of the mass pike as this storm is staying off shore to the south of us here in Massachusetts.

I will continue to monitor this one and if anything changes I will post again tonight. If everything stays the same I will not post again until there is another storm in our forecast.

Weekend snow totals

Have you heard about some snow this weekend? We are expecting a little snow starting late Saturday night through Sunday morning. Not a block buster but the ground will be white. This storm is for south of the Mass pike. Here are the first snow total maps I could find.

Another update will be posted Saturday morning.

Sunday Snow?

I will be keeping an eye on weather reports for a chance of snow on Sunday. There is a weather system going south of us and if it comes close enough we will get some light snow here in southern Massachusetts. I will post again tomorrow with hopefully more information

All rain for me

What a difference it makes depending on where you live. Here in southeastern Massachusetts I have had nothing but rain all day.  Below is the map with the rain/snow line drawn in

There were lots of school cancellations for the north and west part of the state (sorry south and east students) Maybe the south and east can get a snow day next time. I feel like there will be lots of snow storms this winter but the big question is Will there be a blockbuster snowfall amount?
It is looking pretty snowy at Polar Park in Worcester.

I am ok with no snow right now because I have some Christmas shopping to do. There are only 22 more shopping days!

It’s a bust for southeastern Mass

Looks like we are not getting much snow in my area. Just lots of rain! Bummer

Here are the latest snow maps

If anything changes over night I will post tomorrow morning. There is another chance of chance at the end of the week so I will keep you posted about that one.

First snow total maps

I know it is still early to talk about snow totals but the first two maps are out so I wanted to post them for you.
ABC Channel 5 has this map with an area of uncertainty based on where the actual storm track ends up.

The other station that posted a map is FOX 25. They have the rain/snow line going further north which means less snow for southern and eastern parts of Massachusetts.

I am sure there will be more snow total maps tonight and I will be sure to post them. Now I must get off the computer and go do some Christmas shopping before today's rain starts.

Tuesday Snow/Mix/Rain

December is only a day away and we will be starting the month with a little snow. Tuesday December 2nd we will be getting some precipitation. Whether you get snow, rain or a mix of both depends on the track of the storm. Right now it appears southern parts of the state (Massachusetts) will be getting a little snow but then changing to rain. However this could change so I will keep on eye on it.

If this storm takes the southern most track then everyone will see some snow with the higher amounts in the Northern region of the state.

This next map shows that most of the state has over a 70% chance of more than 3 inches of snow.

I will post another update on this storm both Sunday night and Monday night. There is another chance for more snow Saturday December 6th. I could be very busy blogging about snow this winter.

Winter 2025-2026

Holiday season has begun which means that winter is right around the corner. Whenever I mention winter people start to think about snow. I have read a lot of winter outlooks for this year but I haven't gotten a clear picture on what to expect. I guess the best quote I found was "Not a blockbuster but not a bust"

The first map I found wa from The Farmer's Almanac which is pictured above. The Northeast is pictured as having a mild winter.

The next article I read was from channel 10 NBC. This article stated that the average snowfall is about 36 inches and they put out the map below to how how much snow they expect to fall this winter.

Then I read an article that expected a little more than the normal snowfall this winter. Channel 7 put out the following graphics.

Now we wait to see what really happens. I don't think anyone can predict exactly what the weather will do. When there is snow in the forecast you know I will write about it here.

No reports until next winter

Hello Everyone. Since there are no snow storms to blog about, you won't find anything new on this bog for awhile. The only exception would be if severe weather was forecasted for New England. Other than that...I will see you when the snow returns.

Snow for the cape

There isn't much talk about Thursday's storm since the track has gone south.

There will be a few inches on the cape and maybe a dusting in towns just north of there. I wonder if we will ever get the big one this winter?

If anything changes I will be sure to blog about it, but for now there is nothing to get excited about unless you hate snow.

Thursday storm going south

Just a quick update on the storm coming this way for Thursday… the storm track has gone south so we will not be getting a foot of snow. If course the storm is still 4 days away so things could change. I will keep you posted.

Snow and Ice

Are you ready for the snow, ice and rain coming our way? Although the precipitation will end Sunday afternoon we will still have some big effects on Monday. The slushy mess on streets and in your driveway will become sheets of ice and the high winds will bring down branches and power lines so make sure all your devices are fully charged.  One meteorologist said that some ski lifts may have to shut down Monday due to high winds so plan accordingly.

The snow will begin falling early this evening and continue throughout the night. In the predawn hours we will begin the change over to ice and then southern Mass will become all rain and we will get a lot of rain. then all those wet surfaces will freeze over night Sunday and Monday. Some parts of the state will have dangerous amounts of ice.

Before the change over to ice and rain we will be getting accumulating snow so here are a couple of maps I found today with snow totals.

Once we get past this weekend I will focus on the protentional for a major winter storm coming Thursday.
Stay safe everyone!

ready for more snow?

Here we go again. We have another storm coming this weekend. Late Saturday afternoon into Sunday. The precip will start as all snow and after we get a few inches it will change to ice. Hopefully you don't have to drive early Sunday morning. Late morning the ice will change to rain.

Here are a few snow total maps.

After this storm passes we start to watch the next one which is coming Thursday. The first snow total map I saw was the GFS computer model which has crazy high amounts which I am sure will be much lower when the storm actually gets here.

The weather channel has predicted 6-10 inches but we all know that amounts change as the storm gets closer.

Sorry for all the kiddos hoping for a snow day. This storm falls during February school vacation.
I'll post another update as the Thursday storm gets closer.

Be careful if you have to go out in the ice Sunday morning.

The Snow Keeps Coming

I am really getting sick of these small 1-3 inch amounts of snow. I would love to have just one BIG snowstorm this winter.

Coming up....

Our next chance of snow is Saturday into Sunday. According to weather.com we will get little more snow than we got today but it will turn to ice and then to rain

After this weekends storm I will keep an eye on the potential for another on little bit of snow on Thursday February 20th

I'll be back with another update sometime tomorrow morning.

Three small storms

We have 3 storms headed to us in Massachusetts this week, but all 3 will be small storms which means not much snow.

The first comes through late Tuesday night. This storm is tracking too far south to give us snow.

Then a round of snow comes through Wednesday night but changes to a wintry mix early Thursday morning and then to all rain by mid morning as temperatures will climb to 40 degrees. We could get a couple of inches before the change over.

And finally we get more snow Saturday night into Sunday. This storm also looks to give us a few inches and then change to rain because the track is bringing the storm inland. If anything changes on this track I will let you know.

Stormy pattern this week.

Hello snow lovers, we have a couple of chances for some white stuff this week but no big amounts, sorry.

First chance is Tuesday night but this is only for southern Mass. This storm track may come a little further North but right now it looks to stay south.

Then it snows again Wednesday night giving everyone a couple of inches before changing to a wintry messing mix Thursday morning and then changing to all rain.

And then once again we have a weekend storm coming Saturday night and Sunday morning. Since this storm is so far away I haven't been able to find much information yet. I will continue to find as much information as i can and update this blog each day.

Active Pattern

Well that weekend storm was a dud. Only 3 inches at my house. We have more chances for snow this week. I will be keeping an eye on Wednesday night into Thursday and then again Saturday and Sunday. I will post more details tomorrow afternoon.

Snow Tonight

A few new snow total maps were posted this morning so I have them here. Still expecting more than 6 inches. The snow should start between 9 and 10 tonight and continue through late morning tomorrow. The heaviest will occur between midnight and 5 am. The good news is that you should be all set to head out to your super bowl parties late Sunday afternoon. If anything new comes up, I will post again this afternoon.

Get the snow blowers ready to go!

*7:20 pm update - the snow may arrive a little earlier. You may see the first flakes around 8:00
