Snow totals on the rise

 I think we may be getting a little more snow tomorrow than was first predicted. The storm has shifted a little to the left so it is coming closer. This is the first snow total map that I found.

I will be on the lookout for new updates and will post again later tonight. Probably around 8pm.

 We finally have some snow in our forecast. Not a big storm but enough to shovel. There are 2 chances this weekend. Those in the western half of the state will get a little snow tonight into tomorrow.

Then on Sunday the other part of the state has there chance at some snow. The snow should start falling late Sunday afternoon during the Patriots playoff game.

I wish I could report with higher snow totals but who knows, maybe the storm will shift to the left. I will keep you posted of any changes.

Where is the snow?

 This winter has been very boring for all the snow lovers in Massachusetts. I am always looking at extended forecasts hoping to find measurable snow and I finally found one. According to weather.com there is a chance for snow starting on Tuesday January 27th at night and continuing all day Wednesday the 28th and into Wednesday night.

This forecast states that we could get 7 - 13 inches of snow.  I won't get too excited becasue we all know this will change, these dates are two weeks away. I just got excited when I saw the amounts as I am waiting patiently for a big snow storm!

New Year Snow

 Happy New Year. We will be starting the year with a little snow. The snow will be light and fluffy for everyone except the south eastern part of the state.

The snow should start around midnight so if you go out to celebrate, be careful driving home.

Saturday morning Snowfall

 A few days ago I heard that we may get an inch or two of snow Friday night into Saturday morning but as of today those amounts are increasing.

The snow will be arriving from West to East starting after 8:00 pm. For those of you like me living in Eastern Massachusetts, the snow probably won't arrive until midnight. Since the tempertures are so low this snow will be light fluffy stuff that is easy to move. There is a chance for some ocean effect snow for those of you on the east coast. 

We should only have light flurries by 9am and then some sunshine in the afternoon.

Next up is a low pressure heading our way Sunday night which could be freezing rain.

Chances for snow

So much for that forecast of light snow all day. Its 1:00 pm and the snow hasn't started in my area. Now the snow is predicted to start this evening and continue to fall through the night. The snow will be very light and should only accumlate an inch.

There are a few more chances for snow this week

Friday night into Saturday morning there is a chance for 1-3 inches and then Sunday there is a chance for a mix of snow and freezing rain. Temperatures will remain in the 20s and 30s for next week.

Snow December 23rd

I am keeping an eye on the forecast for Tuesday 12/23 as there is a chance for small accumulations of the beautiful white stuff. 

National weather service is the only place I found an updated snow total map. The original forecast from yesterday stated only a coating to an inch but that has changed today. I will continue to watch all the forecasts and I will update this blog daily.

Warming Up

 No snow in the immediate forecast as we will experience warmer temperatures. The precipitation on Friday will be all rain. There is a small chance of snow flurries on Christmas morning. Let's hope that really happens.

Small increase in amounts

 The National Weather service has increased the snow amounts by a couple of inches for the further most southern areas.

I found another snow total map online showing 6-8 inches on the cape but only 2-4 inches for me. 

and I have the new snow total maps for the local Boston stations.

Snow tonight - small accumations

 

The snow forecast for tonight into tomorrow morning hasn't changed since my last post. Small accumlations for areas south of the mass pike as this storm is staying off shore to the south of us here in Massachusetts.

I will continue to monitor this one and if anything changes I will post again tonight. If everything stays the same I will not post again until there is another storm in our forecast.
